Last updated October 2026. Plain-language summary covering the ZMediaAR iPhone app and the zmediaar.com website.
The ZMediaAR iPhone app
The app is a viewer. You do not create an account, sign in, or give us your name or email to use it. There are no ads, no tracking, and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
Camera
The app uses your camera to recognise printed images and QR codes and to play their experiences on top of them. This recognition happens on your iPhone. Camera images are not recorded, saved, or uploaded, and we never see them. If you turn camera access off in iOS Settings, you can still browse the app, but scanning will not work.
Photos
If you capture a photo of an experience, the app can save it to your photo library. It asks for add-only access, so it cannot read your existing photos. Captures stay on your device unless you choose to share them yourself.
What the app sends over the internet
- Opening an experience. When you open a ZMediaAR link or QR code, the app asks our server (hosted by Supabase) for that experience, identified only by its public name in the link (for example
control), and downloads its marker image and video. - View counts. The first time an experience plays in a session, the app tells the server it was viewed so the creator can see how many times their experience was seen. This sends only the experience's public name. It carries no account, device identifier, advertising identifier, location, or other information about you, and we do not build profiles from it. As with any internet request, your IP address is visible to the servers that handle the request; we do not use it to identify you.
- The built-in demo experiences work entirely on your device and send nothing.
What stays on your device
Your settings, the experiences you have opened (so they replay offline), your capture library, and downloaded videos are stored on your iPhone. You can clear recently opened experiences, history, and captures from Settings in the app, or delete the app to remove everything. We do not use this data for tracking, and it is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Children
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
The ZMediaAR website and creator tools
Creating experiences happens on zmediaar.com. When you create an account there, we store your email address (used only for one-time sign-in links). When you create an experience, we store the marker image, the video you upload, and basic metadata like the title and view count. When you use the contact or waitlist form, we store what you type in it, including your email.
Camera on the web viewer
The web viewer asks for camera access to track your printed marker in real time. That tracking happens on your own device. ZMediaAR does not record, upload, or store camera footage.
Who can see published experiences
Only you can see your draft experiences and your dashboard. Published experiences and their marker image and video are publicly viewable by anyone with the link or QR code. That is how the product works. Do not publish anything you do not want strangers to see.
Where data lives
ZMediaAR uses Supabase, a third-party hosting provider, for authentication, the database, and file storage, and Cloudflare to serve the website. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Your choices
Viewers of the app have no account data with us to access or delete. If you have a creator account or sent us a message and want your data deleted, email [email protected] (or use the contact page) and we will do so.
Changes
If we change how the app or website handles data, we will update this page and its date. ZMediaAR is still early, and this notice is a plain-language description rather than a lawyer-reviewed legal document.
